Common Myths About Web Hosting
Myth 1: Getting huge amounts of data storage and bandwidth is the best way to judge a web hosting package.
Why are so many web hosting companies advertising something like 100 GB of Drive Space and 1000 GB of monthly bandwidth ? .It’s a marketing ploy, it looks like you are getting a lot for your money. The are fully aware that you probably won’t use but a fraction of that. This then leads them to partake in what is known as “over booking” a server. This is the process of putting hundreds or thousands of customers on a server that can’t possibly support every site reaching 100 gigabytes of space or utilizing 1000 gigabits of bandwidth (or throughput). This leads to poor website performance and the possibility of data corruption if the hard drive or array of hard drives become too full.
